A brief summary of Eric Sproles' professional work.

cascades

My work at Lane Community College as GIS Instructional Designer focuses on leading workshops for teacher professional development using GIS and developing new curriculum for existing science courses.  The program uses web-based GIS as a teaching tool, rather than teaching GIS.  For a sampling of the courses that have incorporated the GIS modules please refer to the modules page.

I also co-teach the Applications in GIS (GIS 248) course. This capstone course provides students with project development and management experience, and allows students to create a portfolio as they begin to seek employment.  Starting in the 2009-2010 year I will be teaching  Integrated Water Resource Management (WATR 215) and GIS courses for Water Resources (GIS 251 and 252).

Additionally, I am in the Water Resources Science doctoral program at Oregon State University.  My research and studies focus on snow pack variation using a combination of modeling and remote sensing technologies.
